I think it's a very well thought out thought. I can most definitely see that. Bolan was very "pretty" and they did play together occasionally at the time. Given the double entendre of about everything he did at that time, it makes as much sense to me as being a love song about his wife as it does hanging out with his best friend. About the only reason I'd have to not think it's about Bolan is Bowie never performed with the person he was writing about.

PS, I'd love to link your pic here, but I can't access it on facebook.

You know, a song is a poem, really, and can be open to interpretation and about more than one thing or person.

I wonder if Bowie also had Marc Bolan in mind and if there is a reference to the handsome charismatic rock star, Marc Bolan, who were both managed by Visconti, I believe. They were both starting out and painting Visconti's office when they met, according to Bowie.

" One day... you and I will rise up all the way (top glam musicians), all because of what you are ... The Prettiest Star." Bowie and Bolan did rise up all the way and Marc (I'm a totally straight guy) was very, very handsome (and a super nice guy; I got to meet him.) Photo on my Facebook page Michael Jordan Rush of T-Rex with my brother.

So it could be about both Angie and Marc, who (Marc) I had the pleasure of meeting.

In a youtube interview Bowie gave, you can tell the two were starting out together and that Bowie was intensely competitive. Just a thought.
