More oddities surrounding Bowie associates:

The case of the missing music producer is getting darker, weirder and scarier. Christian Julian Irwin, 48, has been missing since early Sunday morning. His last known contact was a frantic cell phone call saying he was being chased by people with dogs. He said he believed these people would kill him.

Among the clients he lists is David Bowie. Now, I’ve not done a terribly in depth search, but I can’t figure which album it was he produced. Seems like weirdness just totally surrounds Chris. I hope he’s OK. But, from the sounds of things, it doesn’t sound good.

      Julian Irwin has been found safe. His story is not over however.

      I was waiting to see if they gave a detailed explanation, but that might never happen ( due to privacy laws ). He’s apparently had some type of mental breakdown. I speculated with some friends privately what it might have been, I think I was right, and it’s not good. Being how bad I am guessing it is, I’d rather not speculate any more. I can only go by what I’ve read and there’s not much to go by.

      I worked with Chris Julian when he was co-owner of Caliope studios in NYC back in the early `90`s and I can personally attest to the fact that he was just as nuts back then as he is now. Ask anyone who recorded there back then and they will tell you the same. De La soul, Queen Latifah, Black Sheep, Brand Nubian.. the guy was an absolute chain pot smoking tyrannical lunatic who would constantly break out into fits of rage at anybody or anyone at the drop of a hat. He was paranoid as all hell back then as well, one time actually drilling holes in the elevator doors and attatching padlocks so they couldn`t be opened which was just lovely because if a fire broke out, you`d find yourself stranded on that 23rd floor, which in fact amost did happen a few months later when a fire broke out in the sweat shop below the studio. The guy was a complete egomaniac, and it wouldn`t suprise me in the least if he did this latest thing for attention.

      Very cool. Thanks for the info Ed. The one question I have asked with no answer is did he ever actually work with Bowie? I can’t find any confirmation on this. But, given Bowie, that doesn’t mean anything. Interesting stories, thanks for dropping by and filling us in!

      No I don`t remember anything about him and Bowie, but it could have been before I worked there. Either way, no matter who he worked with you can bet they never worked with him again. The guy was the biggest pr*ck this side of creation, you can`t imagine how much. I can`t count the amount of times I saw that guy absolutely humiliate someone in front of other people, usually it was the interns, but his abuse went so far as to include engineers and even clients if you can believe it. One time it was some female rapper, I forget who, who I thought she going to mess him up pretty good, I think even one time some guy tried to stab him. He`s an absolute nut, he constantly talked down to people like they were little kids “DID I TELL YOU NOT TO DO THAT? DID I? WELL DID I?” that kind of stuff and it`s what drove him out of the New York music scene. Good riddance!
